We Are Nearing The End

Image
We are turning the corner and nearing the end of fall semester. The assignments I’ve put off are catching up and it’s crunch time. My final exam schedule is very light, but what feels like a hundred projects and a thousand meetings are keeping me from winter break. The fall semester has gone EXTREMELY fast and I can’t believe we’re already starting week 12. All I can think about is… how would the semester have looked if COVID wasn’t a thing? What would be our volleyball record? Could we have won the OAC finals? What if we could have traveled to Georgia as a team? These questions arise daily, but there will never be an answer. As winter break is approaching, I am getting excited to spend more time with my family and Tyler’s family, have the opportunity to work at my internship again and Christmas! I’ve seen my parents and sister quite a bit during the semester, but I haven’t seen my grandparents, aunts, uncles or my cousins in what feels like forever. Christmas is my favorite holiday be

A Fun Weekend at the Winery

Having roommates that are also your best friends is special. The five of us have an inseparable bond. We have hilarious inside jokes, hundreds of memories and of course… thousands of pictures to remember. We switched it up this past weekend and made our way to Sycamore Lake Wine Company in Columbus Grove, Ohio. I promise… we had a DD because we weren’t sure where the day would take us. This was my first time going to a winery ever and as a lover of wine, I can’t believe it took me this long. The atmosphere was so pretty, even on a dreary and windy fall day. After taking pictures outside, we found our way inside to listen to the entertainment. I started by tasting five different wines. If you ever go, my top 2 favorites were Sycamore Sunset and Chocolate Covered Bridge. At Sycamore Lake, they have strawberry and peach wine slushies… which I was skeptical about. Let me tell you… the mixed frozen concoction was NEXT LEVEL. The day was perfect, not only because we drank delicious wine at

Just a Typical Food Blog...

Another week means another blog. This week I am fresh out of any good ideas to blog about. I even googled “blog inspiration” and still nothing. I scrolled through hundreds of ideas but found myself staring at a blank word doc. I happened to be writing this during lunchtime and a little hungry, so what better thing to blog about than food! I love to bake and cook. Ever since I was a young girl, I always was in the kitchen doing something. At one point, I wanted to open my own bakery and make cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Baking was a passion that was temporary and sounded good at the time… but I knew it wasn’t realistic. I still enjoy it, but only like to bake here and there. Aside from baking, I really enjoy cooking. I have no idea where my love for cooking came from, but hey… I’ll take it. My favorite sister bonding activity with Erika (my sister obviously) is going grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking together. During the summer months, we always would cook together and make ou

Our First Volleyball Game in 10 Months

As I have mentioned previously, I am on the volleyball team here at Ohio Northern. Due to COVID, we don’t have a fall season and now we are playing from March to April… hopefully! We have been practicing since August, and we finally progressed into Phase III on Saturday. Phase I consisted of practicing in groups less than 10, Phase II was full team, but no live play and Phase III is the full team and FULL GO! If you’re an athlete, you’ll be able to relate, but practice drains you. When you are consistently practicing, without competition and a game setting, you get burnt out. After weeks and weeks of drill work and conditioning, we finally got to play! We had an inter-squad game on Friday night, and we treated it as a real-life game day. Even if we were playing against each other, something about being in uniform made it feel real. On ONU Volleyball's Facebook , I created a private group for our friends and family to enjoy via live stream. Like many others, my family was so pumped
